Kidz Corner Parent Handbook/Policies
Hours of Operation
Monday to Friday
Hours are contracted hours between the time of 7:00 am - 5 pm.
Payment Policy
Parents agree that all monthly fees will be paid either at the beginning of every month, every 2 weeks (1st & 15th). Unpaid fees are subject to immediate suspension or termination of care unless reasonable arrangements are made and accepted by both parties.
Fees are based on keeping a space open for your child, not attendance, therefore parents are responsible for fees whether their child attends or not. This includes your child's sick days, statutory holidays and your vacation time unless coinciding with my holiday time. Monthly payments are based on holding your child's spot, not on your child's attendance. Refunds will not be given for late arrivals/early pick ups, parental vacations or absence because of illness. However, I will not charge you for my personal days after the allotted 6 paid sick/emergency/bereavement/personal days or 10 days of my vacation days and your monthly fees will be adjusted accordingly.
A fee of $50.00 will be charged for all NSF cheques. Upon a second occurrence of an NSF cheque, all subsequent payments must be made in cash.
Late arrival / pick-up policy
Please advise the daycare prior to 7:30 a.m. if your child will be arriving earlier or later than the pre-arranged time.
Please advise the daycare immediately if you will be arriving later than the pre-arranged time to pick up your child. It is the parents’ responsibility to ensure that children are picked up at your contracted time. If you are not able to pick up your child by your contracted time, alternate arrangements must be made.
Please notify the daycare if an unauthorized person will be picking up your child. Verbal or written permission must be received before we will release a child to anyone who is not authorized on the registration form.
In the event that a parent cannot be contacted, it is the policy of Kidz Corner Day Home to call an emergency contact should a child remain in care after 5:00 p.m.
Your Child’s Toys
A vast array of toys are provided for your child to play with. Please do not bring any toys from home (unless otherwise stated) as this can cause jealousy and fighting among the children. A special pillow, blanket, or stuffed animal may be brought for nap times. These items will be kept in cubbies or diaper bags until nap time.
Potty Training
We will work in conjunction with parents during potty training. If you have a method that has been working for you, please let me know and I will adopt it for your child. We will work with you – but not for you. Should you discontinue potty training at home, please let me know. If a child shows no interest in potty training, I may choose to discontinue and try again at a later date. If you choose to potty train with underwear, please be sure to supply plastic pants to keep “the mess” contained and please supply a lot of extra underwear and clothes. Soiled clothing will be sent home to be washed. Children must be dry (including bowel movements) in a pull up/diaper or plastic pants for 2 weeks before they will be allowed to wear underwear without plastic pants.
Communication
Communication is very important to me. When I accept a new family into my home I like to be sure that we can share openly any concerns or questions that may arise. I feel that we are a team raising your child. If we can work together then your child can feel secure in knowing they have two families who care for them very much. I grow to love each child I keep very much and I am always glad to have a chance to be a part of their lives. It is important that there is a similar childcare philosophy between us. I welcome questions, feedback, or discussions of any kind that affect a positive outcome for the child. Sensitive issues will be discussed outside of regular hours either by letter, phone, or a scheduled conference. You may call me between 7:30 a.m. – 9 p.m. Parents of infants/toddlers/pre-schoolers will receive a daily report via my mobile app. Some typical things that you may find on this report would be daily activities, feeding/meals, naps/quiet time, and other things to remember or to bring.
